Every Light Has a Story

Our Story

It Started With a Simple Conviction.

What if October 31 became an opportunity to fill our neighborhood with joy, kindness, and the love of Jesus?

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
John 1:5
The Heart That Started It All

We Decided to Leave the Light On.

For many families, October 31 is simply an evening of costumes, candy, and neighborhood traditions.

But something began stirring in my heart.

I thought about the children who might encounter frightening images, scary experiences, or memories that stayed with them long after the evening ended.

I began asking myself a different question:

What if we could create something beautiful instead?

What if our home became a place where children experienced laughter instead of fear?

What if parents encountered kindness and encouragement?

What if our neighborhood became a place where the love of Jesus could be experienced in simple, meaningful ways?

I made a decision.

I wasn’t going to turn off the lights and withdraw from the evening.

I was going to turn them on.

And I wanted those lights to represent something greater than decorations.

I wanted them to represent the love, joy, and hope we have in Jesus Christ.

That’s how Invasion of Light began.

“I wasn’t going to turn off the lights. I was going to turn them on.”

This is the founder’s personal testimony and conviction. Christians hold many different convictions about this date, and we respect every family that celebrates it differently.

“We’re not here to argue about October 31. We’re here to love people on October 31.”

The Night Everything Changed

October 31st: The Night God Killed the Power

What follows is the founder’s personal testimony and interpretation of how Invasion of Light began.

Part One

We Invited the Holy Spirit to Be Our Guest of Honor.

We had prepared our property for a special evening.

Beautiful lights illuminated the area.

A large inflatable slide was ready for the children.

Christian music would fill the atmosphere.

And approximately 30 volunteers had gathered to help us welcome families.

The inflatable and outdoor lighting were powered by generators, while the Christian music was connected to electricity from the house.

But before we welcomed our first guests, we wanted to do something far more important than preparing the activities.

We wanted to dedicate the evening to the Lord.

Our volunteers gathered together for prayer and communion.

As a symbolic act of dedication, we saved one drop of grape juice from communion and poured it onto the ground.

It was our way of expressing that this property and this outreach belonged to the Lord.

“We asked the Holy Spirit to be our Guest of Honor.”

We prayed that His presence would be felt throughout the evening.

We encouraged our volunteers to remain prayerful while they served.

We weren’t simply preparing to entertain children.

We were preparing to love people in Jesus’ name.

Part Two

At Exactly 6:30 PM, the Music Stopped.

THE POWER WENT OUT.

BUT THE LIGHTS STAYED ON.

The event was scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM.

And at precisely 6:30, something unexpected happened.

The Christian music suddenly went silent.

The electricity supplying the music from the house had gone out.

But the lights surrounding our outreach stayed on.

The inflatable slide remained powered.

Our generator-powered lighting continued shining.

As the surrounding neighborhood experienced the outage, our gathering area remained illuminated.

It was an extraordinary moment.

We had just prayed for the Holy Spirit to be our Guest of Honor.

And at the very moment our outreach began, the electricity went out while the lights of Invasion of Light continued shining.

I understood that moment through the lens of our prayer and the conviction that had brought us there.

To me, it became a powerful picture of why we had gathered.

Even when the surrounding lights went out, the lights of our outreach remained on.

Part Three

The Light Continued Shining.

We eventually rerouted the music’s electrical supply so the evening could continue.

But that moment stayed with me.

We had dedicated the property to the Holy Spirit.

We had prayed for His presence.

And at the very beginning of the event, we witnessed something I would never forget.

I don’t share this story to argue with anyone about October 31.

I share it because it became part of the testimony of Invasion of Light.

It strengthened my conviction that this evening could be used for something beautiful.

We could welcome families.

We could create joyful memories.

We could encourage people.

We could pray with those who wanted prayer.

And we could demonstrate the love of Jesus through simple acts of kindness.

The experience became a lasting reminder of the Scripture that inspired our outreach:

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

What That Night Means to Us

This Is Why We Do What We Do.

Invasion of Light isn’t about proving a point.

It’s about living out a conviction.

We believe that October 31 gives us an opportunity to serve our community in a meaningful way.

We want children to leave with wonderful memories.

We want parents and caregivers to feel appreciated.

We want neighbors to experience genuine kindness.

We want volunteers to discover the joy of serving others.

And we want everyone who visits to know that they matter.

We believe the love of Jesus should be visible in the way we treat people.

Sometimes that looks like a prayer.

Sometimes it looks like a warm cup of coffee.

Sometimes it’s a balloon, a game, or a simple smile.

And sometimes it’s simply making room for someone to feel welcome.

“We’re not here to win an argument. We’re here to love people.”

Our Heart for Families

Every Child Deserves Beautiful Memories.

We want Invasion of Light to be a place where families can relax, laugh, connect, and enjoy the evening together.

A place where children experience wonder.

Where parents feel honored.

Where volunteers serve with joy.

And where people can encounter kindness without expectations or pressure.

Our desire is simple:

That every family leaves feeling loved.

A Light That Continues

One Night. A Lasting Purpose.

Every October 31, we prepare the lights again.

We gather volunteers.

We prepare activities.

We make coffee.

We welcome children.

We open our hearts.

And we remember why this ministry began.

Not because we wanted to argue about darkness.

But because we wanted to shine His light.

Our prayer is that the kindness families experience during Invasion of Light will remain with them long after the evening ends.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
